Denver Acupuncture Allergy Treatment – How It Works
If you suffer from allergies and do not want the side effects of antihistamines, then you should give acupuncture a try. We have been helping patients for years reduce and resolve their seasonal and chronic allergies. The treatments are safe, relaxing and long lasting. And new research supports the fact that acupuncture resolves allergies better than medications.
Allergies Treatment: Latest Research
In a study published in the journal “Annals of Internal Medicine”, researchers examined 422 people who tested positive for pollen allergies and had allergic nasal symptoms such as a runny nose, watery and itchy eyes, and sneezing. The participants reported their symptoms as well as what medication and doses they used to treat them.
The researchers then divided them into three groups; one received 12 acupuncture treatments and took antihistamines as needed, a second group received 12 fake acupuncture treatments (needles placed at random, non-meaningful points in the body) and took antihistamines as needed, while the final group only took antihistamines for symptoms.
After two months of treatments, the researchers asked the patients about their symptoms and how much medication they used. The participants who received the real acupuncture treatments with their antihistamines showed a greater improvement in their allergy symptoms and less use of antihistamines compared to the other groups.
The study author wrote, “From my experience as acupuncturist and researcher, I would recommend acupuncture for patients who are not satisfied with conventional allergy medications and treatment, or if they suffer from the sides effects of conventional medication.”
Denver Acupuncture Allergy Treatment – What To Expect
Every patient coming for the Denver Acupuncture allergy treatment will be fully evaluated in a Chinese medicine exam. We will review their history, symptoms, current medications and goals for treatment. We will then begin treating the patient by addressing their symptoms (runny nose, itchy eyes, etc.) as well as the root cause of their allergies. Addressing these root causes is what makes Chinese medicine and acupuncture superior to other forms of treatment for allergies. By identifying the root causes, we can help the patient have lasting change and improved health.
The Denver Acupuncture allergy treatment is relaxing and rejuvenating. We use stainless steel, sterile, single-use needles that are hair thin. Many of our patients get so relaxed during their treatment that they fall asleep on the table. If Chinese herbs are appropriate we will suggest that you take them along with the acupuncture. Chinese herbs have no negative side effects.
